After last year’s big fifth-anniversary party, we were happy to keep the Hyperfest tradition going, with plenty of familiar faces, new colleagues and new additions to our families. The weather played along again: a pleasant 27°C meant we could celebrate well into the evening with great burgers and cold Kölsch. For the gamers, a Switch 2 was hooked up to the projector. Judging by the Game Boy tribute on this year’s invitation, we’d clearly caught some of the Switch 2 hype ourselves.

A big thank you to everyone, inside and outside the team, who helped make the day happen. And, of course, to our barbecue masters Michael & Maik, who took charge of the grill for the third year running. They’re now a firm fixture on the Hyperfest line-up: “Are the guys from last year doing the barbecue again?” 😋

Thank you, too, to all our clients and partners for your continued trust in our sixth year together. We were especially pleased to welcome colleagues from Arc-Z, Basler AG, dimedis, Köhler Sicherheitstechnik, SuperSmash.Media and ZEIN Consulting.

Following feedback from our colleague Timo, who took the same route into the team, we made sure Malte had plenty of support from the start. Smaller tasks helped him quickly get to grips with our technologies, particularly TypeScript, Vue.js and hybrid mobile apps.

Before long, he took ownership of his own project. After working through the concept and technical plan together, Malte developed an interactive site map with GPS positioning and dynamic directions. The finished web app has been available to visitors at the WALZWERK since the end of last year. His technical understanding, ability to learn quickly and commitment to quality impressed us, and soon earned him a place on larger projects.

During his placement, Malte put the theory from his studies into practice, applying programming principles to web and app development. He also gained his first experience of working directly with clients. Since February, he’s officially been part of the team as a working student, and we’re very glad to have such an engaged, dependable colleague.

Malte, it’s great to have you at Hypercode. We’re looking forward to continuing our work together! ☺️

With glorious weather and cold drinks, we spent a wonderful afternoon and evening with familiar faces and new friends. The street outside our office was closed to traffic, making room for table tennis, activities for our younger guests and the barbecue gazebo, where Michael & Maik once again worked their magic. Thank you both!

Just before the buffet opened, our managing directors Jens von der Heydt and Stefan Grund shared the Hypercode origin story and the people who helped make it happen. They finished by thanking all the colleagues, clients and partners who have been part of the journey.

We can only echo that: thank you to everyone who has been part of Hypercode’s first five exciting, slightly crazy, challenging and wonderful years! 🥰 Here’s to the next five!

After an introduction to our frameworks and technologies, Timo set to work on an app for a radio station. Alongside the live stream, it includes a regional news feed and ways for listeners to interact with the program and the news. The 26-year-old could put what he’d learned at university straight into practice, particularly in project organization and coding. He told us his existing knowledge had prepared him well for the work. We agree — but more on that in a moment. The team quickly came to value him, both on projects and over lunch, and he could move his project forward independently when needed. His suggestion for future interns, especially those earlier in their studies, was to offer more hands-on support. We’ve taken that on board and will provide it where wanted.

Timo’s work during his placement impressed us, so we offered him a role as a working student in web development. We’re glad he accepted. Since April, he’s been contributing to ongoing projects, including a large healthcare web app for sharing knowledge at a well-known DAX-listed company. After mobile app development, this gives him a chance to build his skills in more traditional web development. He’s also involved earlier in the technical architecture and planning, with more room to broaden his skills and try things out.
