AI & AR: Hypercode at gamescom congress 2024
With over 900 attendees, 150 experts and 70 sessions across eight stages, the 16th gamescom congress broke all previous records. The program was just as varied: alongside the political and cultural implications of games, it covered AI, virtual and augmented reality — including spatial computing — applications beyond smartphones, consoles and PCs, and lessons for businesses.

We took a closer look at AI in talks from speakers including Google employees. They explored how today’s generative AI tools are already changing software development, and what future systems could bring. The applications span planning and design, development, testing and content creation, both for games and other complex digital products.
Our visit confirmed two things: gaming is a great hobby, and AI is bringing changes that will fundamentally reshape how we work and how people use digital products. Some of that change is still ahead; some is already happening. The time we’ve been putting into AI at Hypercode looks well spent.
